Although Binson is probably better known today for their fantastic echo machines, at one point in time they also produced high quality amps with very unique designs. The amps, like other Binson gear, sound nothing like else of the time period and the HiFI 20 is a great example of that.
This amp has been rebuilt from the ground up, making it more versatile and usable in nearly any scenario. The fantastic reverb circuit now uses a volume control on the return rather than the send which simply makes far more sense. It is more quiet and at the same time huge sounding than any other amp from this period. Add to that the singular bias tremolo circuit and different character inputs (one dark, one bright) and this Binson makes a tremendous impression.
And that is not describing the great looks of this combo. With a dark blue tolex and natural grillecloth, both in excellent shape, it is unmistakably vintage. There is the original back cover provided, however the amp sounds much better without it. Therefore, the power amp section in the bottom of the amp has also been rebuilt to ensure safety. Finally, we should mention the giant magnet all original Alnico speaker that is not only efficient but very full range. This is an amp that sounds simply great with a variety of guitars, organs and of course, effects.
It is difficult to find this amp in the earlier version seen here in such a clean condition and it is impossible to sound this good without a complete overhaul and modification of the circuitry.
