The Left Tube Microphone Preamplifier for Dynamic and Ribbon Mics

This fine looking Akai chassis was originally part of a reel to reel system. Unfortunately, we only have one side, hence the name: the Left. There are many articles on the web with simple modifications for these but none of them can really claim to be professional. Instead, we stripped the chassis bare and started from scratch which made a great platform for an original design.

The goal here was to have a high gain preamplifier for dynamic and ribbon microphones in particular (although a phantom power switch is included for condenser mics as well). Features include instrument and mic inputs, send and return jacks for patching in a compressor or other effect, a tilt tone control and loads of clean, quiet gain.

With a pair of pentode gain amps, this pre is very high bandwidth and the tone control adds just the right amount of character without overdoing it. It fits in perfectly for recording vocals and other critical sources that need to really stand out in the mix. Input and output are both transformer balanced with vintage units so this will work well in any studio. As well, the universal power supply ensures no problem in mains voltage variation, it will work anywhere around the world without issue or internal switching. It also means a completely hum-free supply.

This wonderful preamplifier is available for the sale price of €900 plus shipping.
